The Gaians (also known as the Ecos) are a nature inclined tribe living in the nearby forests close to the City. Relatively peaceful, they believe in striking a balance between people and the world all around them, not wanting to taint or damage the Earth like the adults once did.

The Gaians reside in the Eco Camp, which consists mainly of wooden huts and structures. They often move camp to avoid detection. The Gaians like to keep to themselves, but have helped the Mall Rats occasionally thanks to the persuasion of both Pride and Amber.

After leaving the Mall Rats, Amber was their tribe leader for period of time. But when Amber and Pride went to stay in the city, Hawk took over as leader. The Ecos were dissolved when they were captured by The Collective, with only Hawk being known to have survived while the fates of the reminding members, such as Mouse, is unknown for now.

The Gaians like to live in harmony with the natural world.[1] They named the tribe after an idea from the old days that the earth was one giant, living entity. Each member of the tribe takes their name from an animal or bird that becomes their spiritual guide which they learn important things from.[2] The tribe have a custom where two people pledge themselves to each other in front of the other members.[3]

Style[]

The Gaians have distinctive markings which are either foreheads covered in a single colour or nature looking markings. They are easily identifiable by the brown forest-themed clothes they wear, which are useful for camouflaging themselves in forested areas. Most of the Ecos wield wooden sticks as weapons.

In Series 4 onwards, the Ecos have a new symbol that is a green spiral with 4 dots, resembling an animal paw. They have it painted on their cheeks.

History[]

Series 3[]

Sometime after the virus, a group of kids travelled to the forest and formed the Eco Tribe as they want to reject the corruptions and dangers of city life. According to Pride, the Ecos were on the verge of breakdown during Series 2. Hawk becomes angry thinking Amber wants the Ecos to risk their lives again, but Salene just wants to return Pride's talisman as she knows it's to be returned when a Eco member dies. Salene also asks Hawk to perform a farewell ritual for Pride, to which he agrees.

Amber asks Hawk why he is so hostile, to which he says she was the one to drag the Ecos into defeating The Chosen and the Technos when the tribe wanted no part in it. Hawk asks Amber to stay with them as he had always believed in her, to which Amber says she belongs in the city. Hawk replies that she will no longer be welcome if she ever came to the Ecos again.

Later, Salene takes Mouse to join the Ecos and Hawk puts her through the initiation ritual in order for her to join. Hawk also tells Salene she would be welcome to stay, but Salene leaves to return to the Mall Rats as she doesn't want to be reminded of Pride.

The Tribe: A New Dawn[]

But when they reach the Eco camp it's discovered to be deserted, meaning the Ecos had probably fled when the Virus Mark II was unleashed on the city.

The Tribe: (R)Evolution[]

The Collective would capture the Mall Rats and sent them to Eden, while Ebony was sent to The Cube where she runs into Hawk, who reveals that the entire Eco tribe had been captured by The Collective. Mouse is not mentioned and the rest of the Eco members fates are left unknown.
